Chapter 1
Your Bot Learns to Shop and Cancel
James Turner
Welcome to Grok Bot Release Notes, brought to you by Jellypod AI. Today's the one where your Bot starts acting like a personal shopper and a subscription bouncer. The official changelog lists version 0.78.1, dated Tuesday, October 27, 2026, and it also bundles 0.78.0.
James Turner
Quick connection to where we left off. Last time we covered 0.77.0: 1Password connecting without a shared vault, the Auto review permission changes, and the first Vault Payments tab, where you pick the payment method Bots use first. That was groundwork. This release builds the actual store on top of it.
James Turner
Start with shopping. When you ask a Bot to shop, products now show up as cards. Each card has photos, a rating, a price, the store, and up to two badges, like Top rated. If the Bot finds three or four results, they scroll in a carousel, and you can swipe through each product's photos without leaving the chat.
James Turner
Open a product page and the logic is sensible. In stock options come first. Options that no store has are disabled, so you can't pick something that doesn't exist. Then there's Buy now. And this part matters: Buy now starts an order that you approve. It doesn't just fire off a purchase. The approval step stays yours.
James Turner
After you place an order, the Bot tracks it. It tells you when it ships or arrives, and shipment cards show the carrier and the stage. So the loop closes. Find it, approve it, and then the Bot watches the package for you.
James Turner
Payments tie in here too. You can connect Shop Pay in the Vault's Payments tab. Then you can pick it in Pay with, or make it the payment method Bots use first. If you set up the Payments tab from last week's release, this is the natural next step. Connect Shop Pay once, set it as first choice, and your approvals become quick taps instead of payment hunts.
James Turner
Now the part I find most practical: subscriptions. There are three new templates. The first is called Try it, don't pay for it. It starts a free trial for you, and then cancels it, or reminds you, before it bills. We all know the trial you forget about. This one is built for exactly that.
James Turner
The second is Find unused subscriptions. It cancels plans you pick from the ones you still pay for. Notice the wording: you pick. It's not deciding what's unused on its own and nuking things. And the third is Watch subscription prices, which checks renewal prices.
James Turner
Underneath those templates, Bots can now cancel a subscription, or look up its price and renewal date, and they confirm with you before changing anything. So if you don't want a template, you can simply ask in chat: what does this cost, and when does it renew? That's a clean first test. Ask for a renewal date before you ever ask for a cancellation.
James Turner
One practical way to use this: pick one service you suspect you barely use, ask your Bot for its price and renewal date, and decide from there. Then try the Try it, don't pay for it template on the next trial you actually want to evaluate. I'm suggesting that as a way to test it, not describing something the release notes report anyone doing.
Chapter 2
Browser Behavior, Team Controls, and Fixes
James Turner
Let's move to the browser. The notes say the Bot's browser types one character at a time and moves the mouse on every website it fills in. That's the whole claim. The changelog doesn't say what outcome that produces, so I won't promise fewer blocks. What it does tell you is that form filling now looks more like a person at a keyboard.
James Turner
Related, the Bot now offers a connector on sign in pages for Cloudflare, Coinbase, Gusto, YouTube, Railway, Google Ads, Meta Ads, and TikTok for Business. So instead of walking through a login in the browser, you can connect the service properly.
James Turner
A couple of other new items. Bots can start cloud agents in a custom mode you name, and keep replying to them in that mode. And if you run the Intel version of Grok Bot on an Apple silicon Mac, it now offers to download the Apple silicon version. Simple, but worth taking.
James Turner
There's also a small Vault upgrade. Editing a contact offers Add email, Add phone, and Make primary.
James Turner
Now teams. These are marked Teams in the notes. Managers can add logins to a Team Bot's own Vault, in Configure, under Tools, and the Bot signs in with them for the team. In Share, Who has access lists your team and organization, and a Team Bot can be limited to Only you.
James Turner
When a Team Bot routine needs one of your connectors, it asks in the routine's Slack thread and tags you. On the team dashboard, Bot computers groups setup scripts, setup files, and team secrets, and one Security and compliance card holds the computer controls. And there's one Enterprise item: with Terminate Inactive Computers on, a computer counts as inactive after 30 days without a message to any of its Bots.
James Turner
Now the fixes, and some of these will save you real annoyance. Copy on a reply keeps headings, lists, and links when you paste into Slack, Gmail, Docs, or Notion, and copied selections paste as markdown. If you move Bot answers into documents, you'll feel that one right away.
James Turner
Connector names are clearer. App cards, plugin rows, and sign in errors now show the connector's name instead of an internal ID. Spend totals the Bot records now use the right currency, so other currencies aren't counted as US dollars. If you track purchases through your Bot, that's a trust fix.
James Turner
The computer card stays on Asleep during brief background wakes, and shows Waking up... as soon as you wake it. Gmail drafts the Bot writes in plain text now open in rich text, so they read well on a phone and send without hard line breaks. Bot emails retry once when the mail server connection times out. And a Bot can take back a reaction it added to your message.
James Turner
One more worth knowing for the shopping flow: order cards leave out Ship to for orders that ship nothing, and orders through a store's connector pay with that connector's own options.
James Turner
So here's the takeaway. Last episode gave your Bot a wallet, with you still approving every purchase. This one gives it a shopping flow, order tracking, and the ability to cancel subscriptions, always confirming first. Set your payment method, run a price lookup on one subscription, and update the Mac app if it nudges you. That's Grok Bot 0.78.1, brought to you by Jellypod AI. See you next time.
